Inspiration This collection draws from the vibrant culture, landscapes, and craftsmanship of Colombia, merging traditional techniques with contemporary, sustainable design. Inspired by the resilience and artistry of Colombian artisans, it celebrates heritage while reimagining it for the modern world. Catira studied in a mountain with the weaving community, in Boyacá, Colombia, for a period of 3 months in order to gain the knowledge required for the weaving of these looks. She then wove the final garments in her apartment in Medellin, Colombia. Materials & Techniques The collection incorporates vegetable-tanned leather, 100% cotton yarn, and handwoven elements that Catira learned from skilled artisans in her families region in Colombia. Each piece is composed of 4 stranded braids that were later woven together with leather strands, a Catira design signature. Creative Highlights The woven looks, which are the pride of the collection, showcase a bold interplay of textures and colors. These designs aim to honor the artisans’ craftsmanship while reflecting my commitment to experimental design that explores ecological and social sustainability.
